That's a great question. I don't really center myself at all. Oftentimes, I start thinking about my story well in advance, and I often leave my story at the end of my daily writing right where something exciting is going to happen. Write a few notes to yourself at the end of your writing to guide you when you come back. And don't worry about writing poorly for a few minutes. That's what editing is for!
